Fact Finding Visit to Ukraine

On 07/09/2021, P88 Team Leader Mr Andrew Proudlove and P88 Key Clinical Expert Dr Mark Salter carried out the first Fact Finding Visit to Kiev, Ukraine. The P88 team visited the Public Health Centre Ukraine (PHCU).


Key points in the discussion were as follows:


·       Ukraine Emergency Disease Control System


·       Choice of CBRN Emergency Medicine Training Centre (CBRNEMTC)


·       Partners with Norway Institute for Public Health (NIPH). NIPH was a leading partner in CBRN CoE Project 54


·       Ongoing Reform of Public Health Systems


·       Role of Emergency Operations Centre (under Development) and Rapid Response Teams


·       Need to register with Ukrainian authorities for import of equipment


·       Complementarity with other programmes


·       The need to nominate a Ukrainian representative for the Regional Joint Working Group.


·       Criteria for selection of “Master Trainer” candidates


·       Regional/international courses for CBRNEM Master Trainers at STCU


·       Possible changes to the P88 Equipment Inventory to include more equipment training including cheap single-use PPE suits


 


During the meeting, PHCU presents an ideal location for Ukraine’s new CBRNEMTC.
