Fact Finding Visit to Armenia

On 09/09/2021, P88 Team Leader Mr Andrew Proudlove and P88 Key Clinical Expert Dr Mark Salter carried out the first Fact Finding Visit to Yerevan, Armenia. The team met with Ms. Lena Nanushyan, First Deputy Minister of Health who was briefed on the key aims of Project 88 including a fully equipped CBRN Emergency Medicine Training Centre (CBRNEMTC) and the training of a small group of Master Trainers who would run national CBRNEM Training Courses in the future.  The Minister described recent Armenian experiences with patients with chemical burns and kindly confirmed her support for the project.

The next meeting took place in the MoH conference room with National Focal Point (NFP), the Ministry of Health specialists, and other stakeholders. The P88 team gave a PowerPoint presentation on the project and discussed the importance of careful selection of a small group of ‘Master Trainer’ candidates and members for the Project 88 working groups.

In the end, the project team visited the National Center for Disease Control (NCDC) Training Center on the outskirts of Yerevan and met with Dr Sergey Karapetyan, Director of the "Reference Laboratory Center" branch and with Dr Gayane Melik-Andreasyan, Head of the NCDC Training Center. They discussed the suitability of the NCDC as a location for Armenia’s CBRNEMTC.
